![]() ![]() It wasn't just elves and orcs, but you'd go on trips in Planar Spheres to alternate dimensions and explore alien planets, you'd go to Planescape dungeons, run into secret Twisted Rune societies. ![]() I enjoyed all the weird stuff in the world. Jan was kind of grating with all his talks, but you need a thief and it was him or Nalia for thief + other usefulness and for whatever reason I went with him. Like Hael'dar being from Sigil/Planescape was super cool with his defense/offensive stances, Aerie multi-classing mage+priest was great, Mazzy and her unique strength/thac0 buffs and with a bow just raining nonstop damage. The hardest part was sticking with a team composition because everyone had really fun gameplay to use and with all the voice acting and interjections they actually felt like real characters I wanted on my team. Tons of great questing and combat in the main meat of the game as a mid-level campaign D&D. So then I spent 55-60 hours in chapter 2 doing everything 100% except Watcher's Keep which I saved for later. What a game! After the cool opening dungeon (production values really jumped up from BG1 and even the way later SoD in BG2), huge city to explore and quest in! Tons and companions and unlike BG1 they actually feel like real characters with meaty character quests and lots of banter. Seige was like 7/10 Beamdog can't write quests to save their life, their quest content in BG2 EE are the worst parts of it, but the 20 hours there let me remember how to play Baldur's Gate so then I went into BG2 actually knowing what I was doing, which was nice. So instead I decided to play through Beamdog's Seige of Dragonspear expansion as a primer of "remember how to play BG". ![]() Like I didn't even remember how you remove traps. I started it and right away in the starting dungeon realized in the few years since BG1 I completely forgot how to play this. Well that never happened, so finally sat down a couple weeks ago and played BG2. Figured I'd get around to playing BG2/ToB before BG3 came out. Enjoyed my 30-40 hours with it, mostly the actual questing in the City of Baldur's Gate itself. A few years ago I played BG1 for the first time. ![]()
